Best practice, how to use the release field in the fact sheets

Hi,

is there any best practice, how to use the release field in the fact sheets ?

New SW-releases I would maintain in the IT-component, but in which cases should I use the release field in the application fact sheet. As far as I can see the number of applications will increase heavily, which is a cost factor ?!
