What is the best way to represent the data flow with external companies. Let say I have an application A and that application gets its data from a company C. So there exists an interface between C and A. However since C is a company (with that company having an application for sending data) outside of our scope, it should not be represented as an application in LeanIX, however this information is quite interesting to know. So what would be the best way to represent such an scenario on LeanIX?

Hello,

I think the two most common options are:

External Applications: Modeled either as a subtype or as children under and external application fact sheet.

It components: X Company Y tool-data: which will be shown by drill down.

I suggest the use of the Deployment subtype here under and external application parent fact sheet. Since LeanIX does not want to give more extensive functions in Interface capturing, it’s only fair to use deployments to represent external systems.

Hi @Yash Trivedi ,
here are our best practice to model esternal applications

@GiannisAnt, as per our best practice deployment should not be used to represent external applications:

Have a great day.
