Dealing with external systems that integrate with our product

 Our product integrates with many systems that are external to us using API’s. I’m curious to know how people are modelling external systems, are you calling them as Applications? We want to use the power for circle reports within LeanIx and the only this is possible is to declare external systems as applications and our product itself as an application so we can showcase the interface between them and list all the API’s being used between the two systems. I was wondering if there are other ways to do the same thing without declaring external system as applications and still be able to generate circle map reports and interface reports?

Best Practices for Managing Quality Seals on Completed LeanIX Initiatives

We track initiatives in LeanIX and currently configure quality seals to expire after three months of inactivity, aligning with our quarterly project reviews. This approach works well for active projects, but we’ve noticed that completed initiatives also lose their quality seals over time. We want to preserve the history of these projects without requiring users to manually maintain seals on inactive or completed initiatives.I’m interested in hearing how other companies handle this situation. Are there best practices for maintaining historical quality seals on completed projects while minimizing unnecessary user intervention?

Multi level business applications modeling

Hi,We are trying to model our applications and I have one question.Let’s say I have a business application named xyz (this name is known all over the company).Inside of this application are embedded applications  (iFrame) ttt and ooo with different provider. We also have 2 “applications” that are part of xyz, but are actually not separate applications. Business and IT are referring to them as applications in xyz (let’s call them qqq and rrr). So for example if there is an incident, they report it under xyz and then they select qqq/rrr. as different teams are responsible for it (from business and IT side), even though are part of the main xyz.To make it more “strange”, part of this xyz application will now be migrate to Salesforce (qqq will migrate to operational CRM and rrr will migrate to marketing CRM).I understand i can model them as child/parent relationship, but Im not really sure if that is correct way to model as specially qqq/rrr are not standalone applications and can not exis

Modélisation des TMA (coût échéances..) ?

Bonjour à tous,Je suis encore dans mes 20 prémiers jours à LeanIX et j’ai donc grand besoin de vous ! :)et je suis challenger par le DSI sur la vision « partielle » que propose les rapports sur le coùt des applications.En effet, les rapports par défaut exploitent le coût porter par la relation entre application et composant, il me semble.Donc j’ai renseigner sur ce lien les coûts de licences (ex SalesForce) ou d’hébergement.Mais donc il manquerait le coût de la TMA (prestataire gérant la maintenance de nos applications).Je m’interroge sur la meilleure manière de le modéliser ces informations (a minima :nom du fournisseur, date fin contrat, coût annuel).Dois-je modifier le métamodel pour ajouter des attributs sur la fiche « application » ?Dois-je créer une nouvelle type de fiche, comme me le suggérer ChatGPT ?Dois-je modéliser la « TMA » comme un composant de type service ?Es ce que LeanIx n’est juste pas l’outil pour ce type de question (éloigné de l’EA).Je vous avoue que modifier le m

Select subtypes through Json in custom KPI

For a custom KPI I want to create a Json filter on Application subtype ‘Deployments’ but I can't get it to work. As the subtype is showed as a field in the Factsheet I added it as fieldName “subtype” and fieldValue “Deployment”  but this gives an error. Is the subtype not a field? Error while integrating with ServiceNow

Hello,We are trying to create an integration between our LeanIX instance and ServiceNow instance. We get this error “Converting `org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException` to JPA `PersistenceException` : could not execute statement >> ERROR: could not compute MD5 hash: disabled for FIPS”We tried using both Basic and OAuth connections - but get same error.Any ideas on the reason for this error and how to rectify this? RegardsAbhishek

File RESOURCES and Calculated Fields

I’m looking to add value to the “File resources” in a factsheet and make it visible in standard reporting.Now that we have Automations and Calculated Fields, how can i set the value of a Single Select field on a fact sheet based on values in the Resources??Use Case Examples:- Field is Y/N based on if a Resource of certain TYPE is attached in the Resources?- If the resource has a NAMING convention, extract the last part of the Resource Name and save it as a DATE…..to ease reporting (identify resources that need to be reviewed/updated)- Other?? Thanks to all who make this is a valuable and vibrant communityMoise

Looking for a sample Powershell script using the API

We want to keep data in a reference system and in LeanIX in synch.  The administrators of the reference system are proficient in powershell, and the easiest path is a powershell script that uses the LeanIX APIs. Does anyone have a powershell script that uses the LeanIX APIs that we could use as a reference model?

Hi everyone,We’re currently undertaking an initiative to review and reclassify our LeanIX inventory. During this process, we’ve identified a number of fact sheets currently classified as Applications that may be more appropriately categorized as IT Components.While we’ve reviewed the definitions provided in the LeanIX documentation, we’d really appreciate hearing from the community:What criteria do you use to distinguish between an Application and an IT Component? Are there any practical examples or decision frameworks you’ve found helpful?Additionally, for those who have gone through a similar reclassification effort:Did you manually create new IT Component fact sheets, or did you find the Export/Import method more efficient?
