I’m fairly new to using LeanIx tool for EA practice, within our organisation we have determined a few business products used by consumers and these products are supported by IT Components. The confusion we have is how do we link the business product to IT components without creating any applications. I understand we can change the out of the box meta model definition, just wanted to see if anyone has tried this approach before and if yes what implications does it have?

 

 

@chetannayaks If it adds value and provides insights then it is perfectly reasonable to extends the Business Context factsheet with relations to IT Components. E.g. for the Process sub-type an IT Component like a hand-held RF scanner will be essential to the execution of certain processes.

The only real implication is the extra data collection/entry and ongoing management of that data. So if it helps your use cases and is adding to the architecture knowledge then try it out in a Sandbox to see if it adds-value and meets the needs first.
