Hello all,

Quick question to the community: In a large internal community, I would like to validate how the users have personalized their Notifications settings (e.g. what options they have selected for each notification type), as well as be able to set (force) some “templates” by persona (e.g. if the user is Reponsible, the notifs on the fact sheet frequency should be Daily, if Observer then it should be Weekly, etc.).

What would be the best approach to achieve this?

Hi Fabien!

Hope you’re doing well. Based on your initial question, the settings will greatly depend on preference, adoption, and some of the goals you are looking to accomplish. If adoption and data population has been a challenge, the frequency of the notifications could be more often vs. if the adoption is in a good state, the frequency of the notifications could be less. Below is a picture of the settings I’ve seen configured for a few of the notifications from a handful of clients I’ve worked with:

I would love to hear thoughts from the other community members to see how this topic has been approached, and how they determined the settings for the notifications.

Thank you,

Niral Mehta

Thanks for your reply. However I’ll rephrase the question, not sure if it was clear enough:

  1. Notifications can be set by default using the Notification Center. This allows to setup a default config that will be applicable to all users by default (for each type of notification, we have left all possible values in Never/Instant/Daily/Weekly)
  2. Then the user can go in My Settings / Notifications and change the values.

Before we start changing the global settings (ex: limit possible values available in Frequency), I would like to know how to get the different values that are set by the users and confirm how they used, generally.

I can get the general config of the email channel at

https://SUBDOMAIN.leanix.net/services/notifications/v1/setting/workspace/user/EMAIL

However I’m not too sure what endoint provide that info. Is there an endpoint to get to that information?

Hi Fabien,

Thanks for providing some clarification on this request. I did speak to the CSE team here at SAP LeanIX to see if there was a way to retrieve the end users’ notifications settings via an API call, and unfortunately the function is not available today. At your convenience, I highly recommend submitting a Product Roadmap Idea: Product Roadmap. At your convenience, please submit a few key points around the business context and the importance factor. Our team here at SAP LeanIX is continuously looking for ways to evolve the functionality and embed edge cases to the platform to further serve our customers’ needs.

Thank you,

Niral Mehta

OK, this confirms why I’ve been searching and not able to find it.

I’ll post something in the product roadmap. I appreciate that the team is looking to evolve the functionality, however IMO having access to the entire settings of a user’s preferences is not necessarily an “edge” case. It would rather complement the information structure already available.

Thanks for the info,

Fabien
