Diagram containing Names and other attributes from Business Capability fact sheets

I want to create a diagram containing our enterprise-wide business capabilities that includes the capability name plus a reference ID we have assigned to each capability (we have created an attribute field for “Capability Number” in the fact sheet).

Is it possible to include multiple attributes in a diagram?

e.g. “1.1 Capability Management”, with 1.1 taken from the Capability Number field.

Hi @Simon Clayden,

Thanks for the post!  I can confirm that it is not currently possible to have multiple fields/attributes presented as labels in diagrams - the behavior is that we can only select 1 label (1 field/attribute) per fact sheet type.  My suggestion is to submit this ask as a feature request in our public-facing product roadmap for further consideration.

I do have a workaround for the latter part of your statement, where you mention you’d be interested to see the business “capability number” field prepended to the name of the Business Capability.  Our support team has the ability to modify the back-end of the view model in your workspace, where you can request to have the capability number field prepended to the Business Capability name.  This would result in every Business Capability fact sheet name in your inventory looking something like “1.1 Capability Management”, etc.  Raising awareness that this would cause for all Business Capabilities to have the capability number prepend and will be visible in your inventory.

To give you perhaps a better idea, we have an out-of-the-box mechanism that causes for the Provider name to be prepended to the names of all IT Components.  Also regarding the IT Component, our default behavior is to have the version field appended to the IT Component name.  You might have already noticed this, where the default behavior involving an IT Component named “PowerEdge” with a related Provider “Dell” and version of “T110” results in a full display name of “Dell PowerEdge T110” on the IT Component fact sheet, and this is what you see in the inventory.  This is all configurable for our support team and customer success engineers on the backend.

If you do wish to have your capability number field prepended to the name of your Business Capabilities in the workspace and you move forward to then capture the change in Diagrams, make sure that you select the “Display Name” label shown in the screenshot below - this will capture the appended field on the fact sheet name:

My suggestion for a next step will be to open a ticket with our support team via SAP For Me to request for the capability field to be appended to the Business Capability name in your desired workspace to result in a display name of “Capability Number Name”, where the separator is a simple space (if you are interested). You can also choose a different separator, perhaps a “-” or a “|” which would result in a display name of “Capability Number - Name” or “Capability Number | Name”.  I wouldn’t suggest a separator of “/” because this is already used by default for hierarchies, i.e. “Parent / Child” so this could cause confusion since the “/” is associated with hierarchies.

Let me know if this helps!

Best,

Danielle
