Assigning Link to Diagram to connectors

The ability to link objects in LeanIX diagrams to other diagrams is a powerful feature that supports the creation of complex drill-down illustrations.

At present, a shape can be linked either to a fact sheet or to a diagram, but a connector can only be linked to a fact sheet. This limitation seems unnecessary.

Since connectors often represent interfaces, which can be complex and may require their own graphical representation, enabling connectors to link to other diagrams would make it possible to illustrate these interfaces much more effectively.

While not a dedicated feature, in a freeform diagram you can add a hyperlink to a connector, which can then reference another diagram.

Right-click the connector and select Edit Link…, or select the connector representing the interface and choose Edit > Edit Link… in the Style panel. It is a brute-force approach, but it may serve your purpose until the feature is supported natively.

Hi @PaulFil - this would be another great example of an idea we’d suggest adding to our public-facing product roadmap via the “Submit Idea” button at the top right.  This will ensure that the right people from our SAP LeanIX product team see your suggestions or request and can work to prioritize / act accordingly.

I also welcome any of our customers to chime in here as well if they have experienced the same / have managed this topic in a successful way 😊  It is always great to spar on these things!

This should work, thank you. I hope they introduce the “Link to Diagram” option for connectors, just as it is available for shapes, if only for the sake of consistency. :)
