We understand that LeanIX is not a place to have Jira User Stories, however out-of-curiosity, have you encountered ask from users to map Jira User Stories into LeanIX? We have Initiative Factsheet » EPIC as a sub type , did anyone go one more level down and actually mapped Jira User Stories in LeanIX?

What wa sthe use case? What do you think are the pros and cons of replicating User Stories into LeanIX under Initiative » EPIC » User Story as factsheet subtype?

Comments and ideas are welcome.

Hello @vivekhegde,
we are not using Jira, but other similar tools (AzureDevOps, CALM). We decided not to go for that, because that’s from our point of view too detail for an EAM tool. On EPIC Level it may be useful. We are using hyperlinks to jump from LeanIX projects/program into these tools. We link user stories to applications, so we can track the developments for it.

But this is always a question of your companies size and resources available.

Best regards,

Carsten

Thank you Carsten for the insights. We plan to use EPIC anyways as sub types in Initiative. However on a pilot basis for a small initiatives we want to try the User Story mapping as well. This is to use some custom built reports to track progress & report on the KPIs for Solution Review Board meetings.

In my opinion, the Stories level is to deep. If you aim at using the transformations, you should keep it at a higher level. Introducing a new application would be more at the initiative/Feature level rather than at a user story level. That being said, it may be overwhelming for your users to keep track of what is being entered in Jira vs what you can find in LeanIX and you it may impact the data quality. Have you considered aligning the Jira backlog(s) with the Transformation Items and use the Jira integration?

Hi Fabien,  we did consider the Jira integration but it would be done in next quarter. until then, we need to map a small initiative ( 05 EPICs and around 30 User Stories only) that multiple vendors are working on. We need to bring these EPICs and User Stories into LeanIX to get the alignment on the Solution Architecture and build factsheets & application dependencies, interfaces etc. for the review board meeting. The interfaces, data exchanges etc are currently all over the place that we are trying to consolidate in LeanIX.

I understand it is a bit unconventional approach, but we are giving it a try !
