What should be your next steps for implementing an Application Portfolio Assessment with LeanIX? Step 1: Define the scope of the assessmentThe first step in conducting an APA is to define the scope of the assessment. This involves identifying the applications and systems that will be reviewed to ensure they align with your organization's goals and objectives. With LeanIX, you can easily filter and group your applications based on various criteria, such as business owners, technology domains, or criticality.Step 2: Collect and analyze dataOnce you have identified the applications and systems to be assessed, you need to collect data on each application, including its usage, cost, complexity, and alignment with your organization's goals. The data can be collected from various sources, such as IT service management tools, spreadsheets, or application owners. Once you have gathered the data, you can use the LeanIX Application Portfolio Management module to analyze the data and generate insi
Hi,with using the field type 'Location' a map or address list behind is used, so far so good. Is it possible to get more out of the entered address with the map behind? Maybe geographic coordinates or additional mapping like NUTS - Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomenclature_of_Territorial_Units_for_Statistics Many thanks Jan
Hi everyone, thank you for joining in our recent webinar “Simplify Your App Portfolio with SAP LeanIX”.Please find the recording here. We look forward to seeing you in our next session.
Hi Team,I noticed the release notes in our LeanIX workspace about the new MCP update (Visual List, Detail View, and Relation Explorer), but I am having trouble getting the visual components to render inside Microsoft Copilot Chat. The AI terms are signed and the MCP server is active. The AI agent even triggers the tool and says: "The Relation Explorer for [App Name] is now open. You can interactively explore all its connections..."However, no visual UI or interactive component actually appears in the chat window - it just stays as text.Is Microsoft Copilot Chat fully supported for the UI rendering of this new MCP update yet, or is this feature currently only possible with Claude AI? see screenshot below 👇
We have 2 business units. We require a solution that Business 1’s Factsheets are not visible to Business 2 in a single instance. we have explored the Virtual Workspace and the Separate tenant option, but we need further options if we have?
Hi all, I’m trying to document the Reference Standard for Business Capability and Technical capability in LeanIX.By Reference Standards, I mean ‘Prescribed or preferred technology, design, data, and process elements that conform to architectural principles, and that can be used to build the Solution Design’For example, I have 4 different solutions in my landscape for Identity Management, each catering to different needs but they are the standards/preferred for that capability. As a solution architect, one should be able to look at this repository to build the Identity Architecture for the solution.I have the same question for Business Capability as well. One way can be to add a new tag but it’s going to be a lot of maintenance, same with enabling Leading and Supporting capabilities.Appreciate if any one can share best practices used for this use-case. Thanks,Shanthi
How does this resonate with you? Any one else that has been having same/similar idea?Tiered quality seal for applications, where the criteria vary depending on the application type, category, business criticality, and governance requirements? This would assist to drive various use cases as a differentiated Application Quality Seal enables us to apply the right level of governance to the right type of application — from standard business applications and SaaS services to AI-enabled solutions, autonomous agents, integrations, critical systems, and retirement candidates. This would strengthen LeanIX position as a decision engine for trust, risk, lifecycle, compliance, and portfolio optimization. So the opportunity is to move from - “Has the application factsheet been approved?” to - “Has this type of application met the right evidence standard for its role, risk, and lifecycle?”
Hi all - I am needing to adjust the name of a Subscription Role (in my case, I want to change “SDP/Sr IT Leader” to simply “Sr IT Leader”).The only issue I have encountered is with existing saved searches that display that role. The column header still displays the old name unless I edit the search to remove and then re-add the role. Any solutions that don’t require me to manually go through all saved searches to remove/re-add the subscription role?
I was doing some checks and noticed that it's no longer possible to update in blocks of lines in some fields.Previously, I could update normally between organization and business capacity, but in this example, only the description is possible.Does anyone know why this is happening?I did some tests and, in new applications, the field referring to the organization does not appear in the factsheet to relate. However, in older applications that do not have an associated organization, the field appears normally. In this case, does the "completeness" of the factsheet interfere with whether or not the field appears?
Hi everyone, I want to provide a clickable e-mail address with predefined subject in a custom message on a dashboard. With this format, without subject, it works well: [Email Me](mailto:email%40domain.com)But, with an additional subject like this: [Email Me](mailto:email%40domain.com?subject=LeanIX) the subject is ignored. I’m not using markdown at another place therefore I can not test if this is a special markdown behaviour or not. But on other pages like Confluence it works well. Maybe someone of you can help with this nice to have of a predefined subject. Many thanks Kind regardsJan
We are working with our business partners to focus on business capability maturity. As part of this, they would like to capture high level status for their efforts to achieve capability uplift. This is based upon a small number of initiatives, under which the business capabilities are grouped together with their related processes. In the Initiative factsheet, we have the possibility to capture project status (Red/Yellow/Green), % completion and a description. However, I have encountered a couple of problems:-There seems to be no way in LeanIX reporting to present the descriptive text that accompanies the RYG status Using export/import from inventory view, while exporting the RYG is possible, you cannot export/import % completion or description and you also cannot import RYG status. LeanIX displays ‘exporting expanded project status fields is not supported yet’ if you attempt to export, and if you try to import RYG, it says 0 updates were madeIs there any way to extract/visualise th
Dear community, I would like to remove the subscription role "IT Owner" from the fact sheet type "Application".In the meta model configuration the role is not defined as mandatory anymore. None of the fact sheets of type "Application" have this role populated. Nevertheless, but I still receive an error message. What am I missing?
I am currently studying the SAP Learning Hub course "Adding First Data to Your SAP LeanIX Workspace". In the step "Identify fact sheet owners and add them to your workspace", the tutorial describes creating a survey to collect missing information. However, I am encountering an issue: when I follow the steps exactly, no survey email is sent. The tutorial mentions sending the survey for fields marked as N/A, but in my tests, emails are only sent when the "Responsible" field is already populated. My questions are:Must the "Responsible" (or target) field be pre-filled for the survey email to be triggered? If I have 300 applications and none have subscription emails populated, will this survey method fail to reach any stakeholders? The hint states: "To be able to use this method, your in-scope applications must already be populated in the workspace." This seems contradictory because the tutorial then instructs filtering for N/A fields. Is the documentation incomplete, or am I misunderstanding t
Hi everyone,I’m trying to connect the LeanIX MCP server to a Microsoft Copilot Studio agent using the MCP onboarding wizard, following the official docs:LeanIX MCP setup: https://help.sap.com/docs/leanix/ea/connecting-to-mcp-server Copilot Studio MCP onboarding: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/mcp-add-existing-server-to-agent?source=recommendationsHowever, I’m running into issues and would love to understand if anyone has successfully implemented this end-to-end with Microsoft Copilot Studio.Has anyone successfully connected LeanIX MCP to Copilot Studio and run actual tool calls in an agent conversation? What endpoint format, transport type and auth setup did you use for LeanIX?Any tips, configs, samples or pointers to working setups would be hugely appreciated 🙏
Hey everyone,I’m looking for some guidance on how to properly model cost structures in LeanIX, especially when it comes to separating opex and capex while still maintaining a meaningful TCO view.According to the LeanIX documentation, all costs related to acquiring the right to use an application should be entered under License Costs — regardless of whether they are one‑time investments or recurring subscription fees. All other cost types are expected to be recorded as yearly values. This creates a challenge: Most of the costs that are aggregated (including via custom code) are annual costs, which makes them useful for identifying potential savings when rationalizing applications. However, I also want to capture a proper Total Cost of Ownership over the entire lifecycle — which should include one‑time license purchases and other upfront investments. The problem is that these one‑time costs distort the picture when the goal is to evaluate potential savings from retiring an application. A o
Hi,For some time now, I have been looking for a way to display my subscribers in my diagram.Example:I have the application Confluence, and with a show dependency, I would like to display my manager/responsible linked to the information sheets. Is it possible to do this, or is it under development?Thank you :)
Hello,Just wondering if anyone tried mastering Application Interfaces in ServiceNow CMDB and export them to LeanIX Interface factsheets? We are planning to track out Application integrations in CMDB which would get this information from Middleware applications. Then, using cmdb_rel_ci table relationship is created between App A to App B (App1 → App2), using provided_by, used_by, depends_on, etc relationships. CMDB is used more for operational purposes - impact analysis, change/incident management, service mapping. While LeanIX should have “business view” of integration without technical details. We want to push this data to LeanIX, by creating one Interface factsheet per integration.Has anyone had this use case of getting integrations data from CMDB to LeanIX ? Thanks,Mantautas Daunys.
Hi everyone, I work for a global org active in about 80 countries. For orgs who work in a lot of countries and want to report at a global, country, regional level, how do you set up your organization fact sheets? Any ideas on the best ways to do this? Thanks!
I'm looking to automate the management of applications nearing their End of Life (EOL) in LeanIX. I need to set up an automation that notifies the EA team, exports all data for these applications, and then effectively "archives" them within LeanIX. Any advice on the best approach, including webhook implementation for data export and suitable storage solutions?
Is there a known outage? As of about 35 minutes ago, just after 10am EDT, I am unable to open any fact sheet page. Dashboards, Inventory, Reports all appear but as soon as I try to open a Fact Sheet I just get a continuously refreshing progress bar at the top of the page.
Hi there, has anyone of you got Interface Discovery - a new capability of the SAP Discovery integration - up and running? If so, does it disccover interfaces properly? We haven`t got it running yet. Tickets (SAP for Me) were already opened, but we seem running in circles. All configurations on the CALM & LeanIX side were made, but interfaces won`t be discovered, but should…Anyone else out there who`s using that feature? If not, why not?Thank you very much in advance for any response!BR Eric
Hi,Thanks for your interest in advance. I’ve got a bit of a ghost problem.I have created a new subscription Responsible, ‘First Point of Contact’ which gives me an easy way to delegate within my organisation. To date I have been using the ‘lead architect’ role to do this but it has not been right hence I’m trying to change it.I’m trying to use export/import to copy the current lead architect names into the new ‘First Point of Contact’ subscription. I’ve enabled multiple subscriptions for the environment.I’ve uploaded the updated spreadsheets and it said it worked.howeverI can’t see any responsible ‘first point of contact’ in the interface or when I export the data into a spreadsheet. However (again)When I try to redo the upload, it errors to say they already exist…..but I can’t see them. Can anybody bust my ghost please? Thanks Paul
We have been working on modeling our Salesforce org into LeanIX differently than we originally implemented. We have looked at the help files - Salesforce Applications Modeling Best Practices | SAP Help Portal I was curious how people typically account for managed packages, especially when it is an application we already own. For example... We have Five9 as its own app and we also have the Five9 CTI connector installed as a managed package in Salesforce. In several cases we are paying for the connector so I am also curious how people track cost.
I have two questions about the new Self-Service SSO setup and migration. I have read the migration guide and watched the provided step-by-step video, but I find two items still not clear: Can the same IdP connection be used for multiple workspaces (e.g. production and sandbox)? The instructions only talk about "To add a new IdP” but never talk about any ability to re-use an existing connection that is in use for another workspace. Is that possible? If it is possible to use/share the same IdP connection across workspaces, then does LeanIX still recommend using different IdPs for production and sandbox (with two different Entra applications, one for prod and one for sandbox)?
Hi,I have a question regarding the ServiceNow–LeanIX integration. I’m trying to understand how to synchronize specific fields from ServiceNow into LeanIX.Our current source of truth is LeanIX, and the out-of-the-box integration performs a one-way synchronization from LeanIX to ServiceNow. However, we have a use case where the Accountable Manager is updated in ServiceNow and needs to be reflected back in LeanIX.Do you have any advice or recommendations on how to implement this? Also, do you know whether the out-of-the-box integration supports bi-directional synchronization for the same field?Regards,
