Hello everyone,I have a question about the practical use of Business Capabilities from LeanIX within the context of process modeling in Signavio. My understanding is that Business Capabilities represent the “What” an organization needs to achieve its strategic goals—essentially, the abilities required. Processes, on the other hand, describe the “How” and provide a concrete sequence of activities to implement these capabilities.I’m uncertain about where and how Capabilities can be effectively utilized within a Signavio process model. If a process explains how a Capability is carried out, what added value does integrating the Capability into the process model bring? Should Capabilities be added as a reference to clarify the strategic alignment, or are there other best practices for using Capabilities in process modeling?I would appreciate any recommendations or insights on how others are handling the connection between LeanIX Capabilities and Signavio processes, as well as the benefits t
What is LeanIX ? LeanIX allows you to manage and optimize enterprise architecture. Enterprise architecture management is the practice of aligning IT infrastructure and systems with business strategy and goals. It involves documenting the organization's IT landscape, planning, designing, and overseeing the implementation of architectural changes to meet changing business requirements. Key Features of the Adapter The LeanIX Adapter provides the following key features:Supports graphQL variant that allows you to manage FactSheets using standard operations like Create, Get, Update etc. GraphQL variant allows you to specify requirements using Advanced Query feature. Supports REST variant to manage entities like Bookmarks and Settings using CRUD operations. Offers secure authentication via LeanIX OAuth option which employs OAuth authentication. You can retain a FactSheet using Archive or retrieve a deleted Factsheet using Recover via GraphQL variant. How does the Adapter Work? The LeanIX ada
We are seeking a solution to establish a many-to-many relationship between hardware and software subtypes within our IT Components framework. This relationship will enable us to link multiple hardware items to multiple software applications, ensuring comprehensive visibility and management of our IT assets.Goal:Our objective is to create a system where, for any given software fact sheet, we can view all associated hardware that utilizes that software. Conversely, we want to be able to access any hardware fact sheet and see all the software applications installed or used on that hardware.Example:Imagine we have a software application called "Antivirus Pro" and several hardware items like "Server A", "Laptop B", and "Desktop C". By establishing a many-to-many relationship, the fact sheet for "Antivirus Pro" will list "Server A", "Laptop B", and "Desktop C" as hardware utilizing this software. Similarly, the fact sheet for "Server A" will show "Antivirus Pro" among the software installed
Hi everyone,We recently evaluated the LeanIX Self-Built Software Discovery, specifically the Microservice Discovery feature, for both our backend microservices and frontend applications (e.g., Android app).During this evaluation, we observed that the leanix.yaml file in each repository automatically generates Application factsheets with the subtype Microservice in LeanIX. However, it appears there is no way to configure this to create factsheets of type "IT Component", which we currently use in our metamodel. The only changes that can be made are to the subtype, which can be set to deployment, microservice or business solution. Our current modeling approach:We’ve defined in our metamodel that software components, organized hierarchically within a solution, should be represented as IT Components, typically with the subtype Software. As a result, we’re now facing a redundancy: The Microservice Discovery creates Application/Microservice factsheets automatically. We already manually model
Hi We are from Air India and we would love to connect with this very cool Comminity
With recently LeanIX joining forces with SAP, lot of positive changes in terms of LeanIX inventory enriched with lot of SAP specific Factsheets! An awesome & lovely addition indeed! 😍And along with these ready-to-use Factsheets from LeanIX Reference Catalog, I am currently working on preparing modelling and diagramming for applications built on SAP BTP as an extension to SAP S/4HANA Core system.I first looked at this page for official guidance from LeanIX: https://docs-eam.leanix.net/docs/sap#model-sap-btp. This section is still in-progress with LeanIX, but I am wondering whether anyone from the community has already came across similar situation. About modelling, logically speaking, I would imagine SAP BTP as PaaS platform would be a Application Factsheet and Services running on it or offered by it would be IT Components (much of them are already available on LeanIX Reference Catalog). Correct? About diagramming, there is a detailed guidance on using SAP BTP branded library for D

Hi,does anybody have an idea, why LEANIX automations are limited to (as the documentation reads) “Single-select fields and unused fields”. This leads to a lot of fields not showing up in the configuration dialog and it seems you cannot automate a field based on its “text” value. You cannot compare to it.Why is that and what are “unused fields”?Greets Olaf
Moin, just like to say that the recent change of hiding the export option in the three-point menue of the inventory header is a ...not so good… idea , especially because this option constantly gets visibly blocked when the “eye” option below, toggling the field list to be shown”,is enabled, which happens quite frequently prior to using the export option.Leads to simply blocking sight to the export option. Does not feel good. Why not simply add a button left off …? Only my opinion.
My organization is implementing Data Mesh, and I want to implement data mesh thinking in LeanIX. Could you please help me with some basic idea of implementing Data Mesh thinking in LeanIX?
Dear all,I can see there have been quite a few adaptations to the metamodel in our LeanIX Workspace. I wonder if there is an elegant way to find the deviations from the standard “as delivered” model? I know there is a change log/audit log, but I find it tedious to figure out what the actual changes are. Some changes are done by LeanIX support (due to changes in the metamodel version?).Also, where would you draw the line when it comes to adaptations? Extra fields are okay to what extent? What about establishing new relations to fact sheets or hiding parent or child levels? Moving subareas?Do you have guidelines in your companies, and how do you document changes? Thank you in advance for any opinions or input.Have a great day Christian (tried to post it in Meta Model but I do not seem to have accesss there)
Hi - is it possible to convert a fact sheet (=application) to another type factsheet (=IT Component). I don’t want to manually redo the attributes and relationships. And I have multiple cases to be converted.Thank youNatalia
Hi y’all, I’m trying to figure out how the trash bin field works for archived factsheets. It seems like the archived factsheets are removed from the trash bin after some days, so just wondering what is the most efficient way of creating a tracking system for these factsheets? My initial idea is to take out exports of archived factsheets in a table view and manually append the data regularly in a locally stored file. Can this be automated and perhaps even be visualised on a LeanIX dashboard instead? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)
Hello to the community. I’m the Lead Enterprise Architect with Amey PLC. We started our journey with LeanIX last week. I was wondering is there are any pearls of wisdom anyone could share on things they would do different now they are experienced with the product?
I am starting doing some use cases to study, and I am a little confused on when I can use Business Context or Business Capabilities… Is there any way to differentiate them? Is there any naming convention suggested for each of them?
Hi,I am service now developer and We got one requirement regarding service now leanix integration.scenario -we need to create some records in service now in custom table. only 7 fields there. these records will come from leanix side.for this as per my knowledge, I need API from leanix with GET method for fetching the records from LeanIX.Please guide me
I tried to post a question in the reports community and got the error message “you don’t have access to this category”? any ideas? Most frustrating for someone trying to use this product and is new to it.
Requesting saved searches via oData and Excel is successful. But for the final goal of converting the saved searches to csv-files I would like to get rid of the middleware (Excel) and do the job by PowerShell.First trap is authentication.I have an username and an api-token, but have no idea how to authenticate by PowerShell.Any idea? Thank you!
Hello! Can I get some guidance on how to use the log data in LeanIX for reporting purposes? At the moment I can only see how to use the factsheet data readily available in the Inventory tab, but nothing on the log details of the fact sheet.
How to model the relationship of Applications to platforms and IT components? Should the application relationship to IT components (making up the platform) be created if the relationship between the application and the platform is already established? For example, consider that there is an Analytics platform made up by a DataLake (IT component 1) and Machine Learning module (IT component 2). The Analytics platform is used to build the Customer Analytics application. How to model in this scenario? Case 1:Create relationship between Customer Analytics application withAnalytics Platform IT components - Data Lake and ML moduleAlso create the relation between the Analytics platform and both the IT ComponentsCase 2:Create relationship between the Customer Analytics application with Analytics platform only. The relationship between the Application and these 2 IT components is not required since the IT components are inherently related to the app through the platform factsheet. The advantage in
Hi, What are the ways to export data from LeanIX?I don’t see any export button anywhere on the LeanIX page. I have the option to view and edit existing reports but not create new ones. My role is viewer. Also, according to me using an API to fetch data requires an API token but there is no option to generate any API token. Is the export functionality in LeanIX role dependent? Thanks.
Hi LeanIX Community, My team and I are working on a survey, but our users are currently not receiving the email invitations to participate. Could you please help us determine if there is any specific information we may be missing or provide any guidance on how to resolve this issue? We appreciate your support and any assistance you can provide. Thank you,Aby
Hello everyone -I’m new to LeanIX community and I did search to see if there was a similar question asked and didn’t find anything. Let me give some context before I ask the question: I am a business architect in a health insurance company that sells different types of health insurance “Products’. I’m documenting value streams, using Business Context fact sheets, across the organization and then linking Applications, which have their dependencies on the IT components. There are certain value streams that are either specific to a “Product” or multiple Products. Similarly there could be Applications that would be used for a specific Product. I need to create “Product-Specific” views in LeanIX. For example, I need to answer following questions:Which Applications support Product A? Give me a view of Product B value streams and the related Applications and IT Components? Here are my questions:How can I best associate specific Products against value streams and applications? Would “Tags” be
Hello,I’m trying to create a reportbut I need that on X-Axis appears the relation “Uses Platform”. Can you please support on this? Thanks.
Hello everyone,My current understanding is that behind most business capabilites there is a process that describes how this capability is achieved operationally. This process is modeled in SAP Signavio according to BPMN 2.0, for example. However, my understanding is also that certain capabilities can be used or activated within a process in order to support a process. Therefore, I have the following questions: Is it correct that business capabilities are used within a process to realize a higher-level capability? How can this relationship between capabilities and processes be represented in Signavio? So how do I illustrate in my BPMN, that the process describes “how” a certain capability is delivered? And how do I show other capabilities that are required for this process?Thank you very much for your support!
