I’m creating a survey on business criticality of applications. Logic in the meta model that if an application is deemed mission critical, then a set of additional questions pops up (=conditional questions). I’ve tried to replicate this in the survey, but it’s not possible. The workaround I’ve found is to create a new section in the survey with non-mandatory fields with a textual prompt to only fill it in for mission critical apps.Am I correct in my assumption it’s not possible to configure conditional fields as I need? I’ve added those fields to the survey but I can see a lock next to it, i.e. cannot enter this data. What might be the reasons and how to overcome it?
Greetings, The application fact-sheet looks as follows, where all info is on the left side aligned, and as we continue to add more fields, the list continues to grow down: Is it possible to move or configure some of the fields to the right side, to use real-estate better? I see this in the application fact-sheet configuration, but on the application record, it shows only in the EDIT mode. Is it also possible to show in non-EDIT mode? Thanks,Satish Byali
We have a three level Business Capability model in LeanIX. We're interested in automating the process of rolling up maturity ratings from child fact sheets to their parent Business Capability fact sheet. When we update the children, we'd like to have the parent BC automatically inherit an average of the child ratings. Is there a built-in LeanIX feature, automation or API-based solution to achieve this? #BusinessCapabilities #Automation
Hello TeamI am looking for brief descriptions or narratives for each Factsheet Attribute within our documentation, such as 6R Classification, 6R Strategy, Alias, Business Contexts, Business Criticality, and Children. Additionally, we need descriptions for other Inventory Item Factsheets to ensure consistency when cascading this information to our SMEs, who will be responsible for sourcing the data.If you have any references or documented details, please share. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Hello everyone!I’m just wondering if any business capability map exists for the not for profit sector such as a large Children’s Charity? Also very keen to hear from anyone in this area using LeanIX!
I'm looking for ways to make certain Fact Sheets private or restrict access to them in LeanIX. We have some sensitive data that we only want specific users to be able to view or edit.I know LeanIX doesn't have a direct "private" setting, but I've heard about using role-based permissions, subscription types, and tags to control access. Could anyone share some detailed instructions or examples of how to do this effectively? For example, how can I:Restrict access to a Fact Sheet so that only users with a specific role (e.g., "Finance") can view it? Make certain attributes (fields) within a Fact Sheet visible only to certain users? Use tags to control access to sensitive Fact Sheets?Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
We are starting with Technical and Functional Fit for apps in our portfolio. I would like to use out of the box functionality and definitions, however we discovered that existing definitions of these two attributes are quite hard to judge. Example: definition of a perfect functional fit is “High number of functions available” - we are not really looking at functions in business value assessment, we would be looking to how well this application realizes my business problem end to end. Additionally, we want to make sure that app owners are less prone to rate everything as “prefect fit” (which we know they tend to do).Does anyone have experience with successfully enriching these definitions?
Hi,I have a survey running with invitations sent to factsheet subscribers. In some cases the subscriber has changed meanwhile and I like the survey invitation sent to these new members. How can I get LEANIX to up date the recipients pool of the survey andresend the invitation to new members inform the old recipient that his task was shifted to another person? Thanks for a hintOlaf
hello, have searched this community but haven’t found any lead to understand if LeanIX is intuitive enough in terms of accessibility, and compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA level. Can anyone pls comment or guide me here? Kr, Deb.
Hello,we are conducting an assessment of the applications within the company, specifically mapping applications and their related microservices. We have introduced a mandatory subscriptions for assigning responsible and accountable roles to applications and modules that are part of the IT landscape. Now, we need to map external applications owned by business stakeholders, which are invoked by internal microservices. Since we are mapping them as applications, they also inherit the mandatory subscriptions for accountability and responsibility. However, in many cases, we are unable to meet the responsibility requirement because there are no IT personnel involved. How can we model this scenario for external applications?
Hi, We are having a challenge mappying our IT Components. The rational was:Application is linked to at least 3 IT Components, that would represent: Software (Software; SaaS, Paas) Infrastructure (Hardware, IaaS) Services (Service) For example, if we are using a PaaS, and you want to describe the resources you are using, what IT Component subtype you would use? For example the following IT Components will be of what subtype?
Application question: We are in the proces of analyzing our custom applications. Some are developed in python, others in Java, VBA, .NET or C#.How would you register the code base in such a way that you can report about all bespoke applications that are written in an obsolete language (VBA, .Net but also Kobol) come to mind.Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Hello Experts, Need your help in understanding the usage of TIME and 6R methodologies. At most places it mentions 6R is more towards the applications - focused to move on Cloud (no wonder it was proposed by AWS) however, when it comes to APM for an enterprise what should be the ideal way of choosing the right method of Application assessment? Should it be just TIME or combination of both.Any experience around this topic will be helpful. Thanks,Santosh
Is there a way to introduce cycle relationships in LeanIX?I have a process that delivers data to another proces, then a new data set is transferred back to the first process.I added many to many relationships, but to no avail.
Hi all,I am looking for a tool (ideally integrated with LeanIX / APM) to analyze software usage on my organization. Any recommendations in this area?Alex
We believe creating these components as an application would be the most effective approach. However, given our current situation, we’re exploring alternative solutions. Managing over 60+ websites makes it challenging to continuously request licenses for adding more applications. What would be the best way to handle this scenario efficiently? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi all, My team and I are looking for possibilities to integrate our architecture principles into LeanIX. Are there any community members with experiences on succesfully doing so? As of now we've communicated our architecture principles through Sharepoint, but we'd like to have LeanIX as our main source for all Enterprise Architecture related subjects. Right now we're considering to use the Dashboard in order to state the principles, accompanied by a corresponding report. Hereby an example: A text column showing a cloud first principle with a statement that 'SaaS before PaaS, before IaaS' etc., accompanied by a report showing the current status (how much SaaS, on-premise, etc). See screenshot.Any further ideas or experiences on showcasing architecture principles within LeanIX?
How do you keep and maintain a risk log?I know we can detect the risks in Leanix but i also have the need to create a risk log assess the risk : give a non technical explanation/impact/scoring of the risk reporting on the risk. I was thinking of creating a separate fact sheet but is this a good idea? I also know there are plenty of risk management tools but is there anyone using one that can integrate with Leanix? Please share your thoughts/experiences. Thanks!
How do we clearly classify Application and IT component when we are performing Portfolio assessment. Where exactly the Integration components fits in. for ex: API, ESB, Webservices etc. Also, cloud services where do we classify.
As per the title I am looking to the community to see if anybody is able to help with the Portal configuration options.Having created a ‘Application - Factsheet’ portal I have 2 areas that I am looking to solve for.On the Search configuration, I have created a Filter Option, Based on ‘Relation’ that is has a Related Fact Sheet Type of ‘Organization’. In the Portal, this then display the Parents of Subtype ‘Business Unit’ only and does not show any Children depth. My Question: Is is possible to specify the Subtypes that are presented below the search field in the Portal, or the Child depth? On the portal configuration for ‘Detailed View’ I have added a relation for ‘Organizations’ through the Fact Sheet name property, i am either able to leave blank and see the full parent/child path to the Organization. My Question: is there a way to display the Subtype & the name. This will then result in a cleaner display without the full parent/child hierarchy. Keen to how others have best ma
Is there a way to synchronize SaaS Hosting (IT Component) fields with their associated application fact sheet fields (e.g. Subscribers, Lifecycle, Tech Fit) when creating it from the catalog in LeanIX? We see the value of having associated Apps/IT Components sheets for SaaS solutions but struggle with getting the ITC data populated. How have you managed this? Has anyone automated the process to ensure that the SaaS IT Component’s fact sheet is populated consistently with the application fact sheet? If so, what are the best practices for connecting the two fact sheets to create some synchronization?
I got this from web, I need to get the same steps or similar from LeanIX documentation and search returns nothing. Someone from the product side verity these steps then tell me where I mean location in docs these steps can also be found. I know it is possible, setting Costs for the relationships between Applications and IT Components (also known as interfaces or underlying technologies), Maybe because I am not an admin search does not even cover adding cost to the relation? BUT it is usually done using the following steps and my admin wants to see these steps come from You the product team.1. Check Your Data ModelEnsure your LeanIX data model includes a relation type that supports cost attributes. Typically, the relations between Applications and IT Components (or Technical Services) can include custom attributes like Cost. You may need administrative rights to verify or modify the data model.Navigate to the Administration area. Select Data Model. Verify that the relation between Ap
Dear LeanIX’ers,I would like to get some feedbacks from the community regarding the “best usage” of the sub-type Deployment of an application. We are a large watchmaker group in Switzerland, made from many organizations, and the goal is to modelize the application landscape of the entire group with LeanIX.We are not using the virtual workspaces, so that all the compagnies can see the complete application list already existing in the group. When an application is used by several compagnies, we modelize it as “Parent - Children” Application / Deployment, so that each deployment have it’s onw business owner, business criticality, technical fits, etc… This makes particular sense when the application is running for each company it’s own instance on a virtual server. But when we take cloud applications, I always hesitate to create a Deployment for each company, as it’s the same application, but can have different business owners (by brands), and therefore different levels of criticality, depend
Hi All,Two key risks we would like to use LeanIX to address here in our organisation is out of date software and / or operating systems. Were early in our LeanIX journey so we have no plans for mass population of IT components yet but instead are focussing on value add and these two key things are a historical challenge here adding risks to our application portfolio. Were finding the aggregated obsolescence capability in LeanIX a really powerful tool for tracking this software support lifecycles and surfacing it up. To do this we create an IT component for the application with the software version / vendor lifecycle in it and it all works correctly. For operating systems we have observed there is a dedicated field in the IT component fact sheet for server operating system. However this value does not seem to be used in calculating aggregated risks and seems to be treated as a separate element of an IT component and it has no concept of lifecycle with it.Do people use the server oper
How long does it take for custom KPIs to update? I’m seeing a discrepancy between when I click “validate” and what my dashboard is showing. When I click the ‘validate’ button after creating my KPI using the JSON editor, it says the KPI value is “264”. Then I click “save” and go back to the list of KPIs and it says the value is “256”. Do these KPIs get calculated once per day and I should just assume it’s a matter of time before it gets updated, or is there something else going on here?
