Application Portfolio Management

How do we clearly classify Application and IT component when we are performing Portfolio assessment.   Where exactly the Integration components fits in.  for ex:  API, ESB, Webservices etc.  Also,  cloud services where do we classify.

As per the title I am looking to the community to see if anybody is able to help with the Portal configuration options.Having created a ‘Application - Factsheet’ portal I have 2 areas that I am looking to solve for.On the Search configuration, I have created a Filter Option, Based on ‘Relation’ that is has a Related Fact Sheet Type of ‘Organization’. In the Portal, this then display the Parents of Subtype ‘Business Unit’ only and does not show any Children depth.  My Question: Is is possible to specify the Subtypes that are presented below the search field in the Portal, or the Child depth? On the portal configuration for ‘Detailed View’ I have added a relation for ‘Organizations’ through the Fact Sheet name property, i am either able to leave blank and see the full parent/child path to the Organization.  My Question: is there a way to display the Subtype & the name. Is there a way to synchronize SaaS Hosting (IT Component) fields with their associated application fact sheet fields (e.g. Subscribers, Lifecycle, Tech Fit) when creating it from the catalog in LeanIX? We see the value of having associated Apps/IT Components sheets for SaaS solutions but struggle with getting the ITC data populated. How have you managed this? Has anyone automated the process to ensure that the SaaS IT Component’s fact sheet is populated consistently with the application fact sheet? If so, what are the best practices for connecting the two fact sheets to create some synchronization?

I got this from web, I need to get the same steps or similar from LeanIX documentation and search returns nothing. Someone from the product side verity these steps then tell me where I mean location in docs these steps can also be found.  I know it is possible, setting Costs for the relationships between Applications and IT Components (also known as interfaces or underlying technologies),  Maybe because I am not an admin search does not even cover adding cost to the relation?  BUT it is usually done using the following steps and my admin wants to see these steps come from You the product team.1. Dear LeanIX’ers,I would like to get some feedbacks from the community regarding the “best usage” of the sub-type Deployment of an application.We are a large watchmaker group in Switzerland, made from many organizations, and the goal is to modelize the application landscape of the entire group with LeanIX.We are not using the virtual workspaces, so that all the compagnies can see the complete application list already existing in the group.When an application is used by several compagnies, we modelize it as “Parent - Children” Application / Deployment, so that each deployment have it’s onw business owner, business criticality, technical fits, etc… This makes particular sense when the application is running for each company it’s own instance on a virtual server.But when we take cloud applications, I always hesitate to create a Deployment for each company, as it’s the same application, but can have different business owners (by brands), and therefore d

Hi All,Two key risks we would like to use LeanIX to address here in our organisation is out of date software and / or operating systems.  Were early in our LeanIX journey so we have no plans for mass population of IT components yet but instead are focussing on value  add and these two key things are a historical challenge here adding risks to our application portfolio.Were finding the aggregated obsolescence capability in LeanIX a really powerful tool for tracking this software support lifecycles and surfacing it up.  To do this we create an IT component for the application with the software version / vendor lifecycle in it and it all works correctly.For operating systems we have observed there is a dedicated field in the IT component fact sheet for server operating system.  However this value does not seem to be used in calculating aggregated risks and seems to be treated  as a separate element of an IT component and it has no concept of lifecycle with it.

How long does it take for custom KPIs to update? I’m seeing a discrepancy between when I click “validate” and what my dashboard is showing.When I click the ‘validate’ button after creating my KPI using the JSON editor, it says the KPI value is “264”. Then I click “save” and go back to the list of KPIs and it says the value is “256”. Do these KPIs get calculated once per day and I should just assume it’s a matter of time before it gets updated, or is there something else going on here?

Hello!New to EA and LeanIX. I’m looking for thoughts around performing general risk management (associated with EA) within LeanIX.Risk management typically involves listing specific risks, with description, likelihood, and impact score attributes, and calculates risk scores based off of them.As far as I can tell, LeanIX (even with the Risk and Compliance module) allows us to store aggregated obsolescence specific risk via the lifecycle attribute but it doesn’t provide this general risk management capability.I’ve found a documentation example which seems to use tags to augment fact sheets with additional sunset status/risk, but that’s not quite what I had in mind. Would like to understand how deep other organisations have gone with modelling data in leanix eg providing a view of data solutions , domain data models?

Hi Team,I am populating Factsheet Type = User Group with Organization Data and the “Alias” field has details of an organization unit.How can I reference the “Alias” field in factsheet type = User Group in another factsheet type “Application” (field = Business unit) Does LEANIX allow cross factsheet type reference?  Purpose - Identify which applications belong to which business unit.    

I need to export Resource data. Integration API seems to be the way to go since this data is not available via excel export. I can’t find examples of outbound processors that reference this data. An example would be appreciated. Data that I need: links with names, URLs, types, descriptions, and diagram references ...… and maybe logos (but not critical).  Alexander BatanovEnterprise Architect

I am running into a scenario where we would like to use TIME with IT Components, along with our Applications. I am thinking of a scenario where we might have several components in a Tech Category, and we want to Technology Rationalize down to a reasonable number.  Using the TIME classifications would be a big help there to help show teams what they should be using moving forward as we work to decommission the others. Any thoughts/ideas on this would be appreciated.

As a large public organisation we have several innitiativ & tenders for changeing the Application & IT-map.If we are working i 10 diffrent tenders with about 30 diffrerent suppliers and their applicationens. How do we handle the LeanIX Applications licens model, as we dont what to pay for Applications that are not in production.One way is just to keep those possible applications in Initiativ-factsheet and build relations from there.

I would like to find an applications that have a certain “pIT ICTO ID”. But searching for applications with a Full Text search = “ICTO-20878”  does not yield the right search results. Is it possible to search for a specific text instead of full text search?

Is there an easy way to get a list of applications in my portfolio that are/are not linked to the SaaS catalog?

As a bit of a follow up to this topic: How to include Application displayName in "Request Now" Action Button of Application Portal | Community (leanix.net) I am wondering if it is possible to redirect the “Request Now” button in the Portal to open a form for filling out a new fact sheet. I have just created a Data Quality Governance process with tagging and To-Dos for making sure applications are entered with good data quality, and having the portal as an entry point for new manual application requests to take advantage of this would be great.

Is there a way to automate the role of the user if the user has been added as a subscriber.Ex: X is a viewer and X has been added as a service manager/ service owner. Can we automate to change the role of X from viewer to member?

We are relatively new to LeanIX and have just completed an initial phase with a small selection of applications.  User Groups have proven to be a real challenge and we are considering if the new Organisation and sub types help us address this.We have grown via acquisition so have a very diverse IT landscape with multiple sites in the same country using different applications for the same business capability.  This is the detail we want to capture.  Therefore User Group has been set as physical locations (addresses) which represent sites.  We have then put in a 4 tier hierarchy to help aggregate that data into meaningful summaries.  The challenges we still face are:Who is using the application versus where it is supporting?  Where we have finance shared services, they are the user of an application for say accounts receivable but the data belongs to a site.  Finance Shared Services being the User Group is a given, but do people also map the site, or just accept tha

Hello,To organise our digital products, we are using User Groups.We defined several sub-types :- Jobs / user Roles - Organisation (domain branch)- Group of products (teams under Organisation) In a table view of the "Digital Product" inventory, I would like to have 2 separate columns : one with the Organisation, and one with the Group of Products. Currently, I didn't find how to do it but only have column "User Groups" with all subtypes mixted. Is there a possibilty to have the same functionality as for the subscribers : to select which sub-type in a separate column?  Otherwise, sould I modify the meta-model to add new filed : one for the organization, one for group of product(but always linked to the user groups) ? Thanks for your help Gauthier

Greetings,I have been prompted to lead and coordinate ARB recently.ARB has been in place for 2-3 years now, the process is a mix of manual and some power automation tool. I definitely see there is opportunity for process improvements/gaps/etc. Planning to conduct a organization wide survey with key stakeholders, ex.: Business Relationship Managers (BRMs), larger EA community (Portfolio, Business and Technology architects), Support group, etc.How to go about it?What are the key areas I need to consider or address? Appreciate this communities feedback… thanks.
