When does deleting a Transformation result in other fact sheets being archived?

Hey LeanIX team.I create a Transformation such as Change Application Technology. I want to specify a New IT Component that does not already exist, so I type the name and click “+ Create new fact sheet...” in the popup menu, and that results in the fact sheet being created (as expected).If I delete the Transformation then the newly-created fact sheet gets automatically archived. This happened (in a simple test) even if I had added a description to the referenced fact sheet.Creating and then deleting a Transformation that references an existing fact sheet does not cause the referenced fact sheet to be archived (in my test, the existing fact sheet had lots of other data and relationships).Muy question is: What are the rules defining when fact sheets referenced by Transformations are auto-archived as part of deleting the Transformation? e.g. is it related to lifecycle dates or other data on the referenced fact sheet.Thanks

Best Practices for Capturing IT Components and Managing Granularity in LeanIX

I’m currently working on capturing all IT components used across our organization in LeanIX. While using the reference catalog is helpful—especially for details like lifecycle (e.g., end-of-life dates)—the list is becoming quite large and difficult to manage.I’d like to understand how other teams are approaching this:What level of granularity are you using when modeling IT components? Do you include every tool/library/framework or focus only on critical or enterprise-level technologies? How do you balance accuracy with maintainability when using the reference catalog?Would love to hear your strategies or lessons learned for keeping the IT component list meaningful yet manageable.

Adoption of the LeanIX Tech Category Catalog

Hello everyone,we are currently in the process of categorizing our IT components using the LeanIX Tech Category Catalog. However, we often encounter difficulties in finding the right categories for certain technologies due to the predefined hierarchy based on the TBM Solutions Layer. For instance, we created a custom tech category called "Operating Systems" with subcategories "Mobile OS", "Server OS", and "Workstation OS" to better fit our needs. Additionally, we developed a separate category for "Languages and Frameworks".Since this approach diverges from the intended use of the catalog, I am curious about how others in the community handle these challenges. Recording Business Capability Maturity for Multiple Organisations

Scenario:An organisation has four business divisions.Business capability maturity differs across business divisions (I.e. Data Management is “Ad Hoc” in Division 1, “Defined” in Divisions 2 & 3, and “Managed” in Division 4. Question:Where in the factsheet for Data Management should those maturity scores be captured? Boston Customer Community Event Recap

Hi all,This past Tuesday July 16th we held our Regional Customer Community event in the LeanIX office in Watertown.During the day of networking, knowledge sharing, and deep dives into relevant topics the attendees were active in interacting amongst themselves and with our presenters.We had some great presentations from our Product Management team on our AI Roadmap. From our Professional Services team we saw outstanding content around AI Governance and how to do that inside LeanIX.During the discussion sessions we had some great roundtable back and forth about Product Adoption, Dashboards, and Architecture Decisions.It was a fantastic event and hope to see everyone in the New England area attending a future event!

Calculated Field on Application–Organization Relation Not Appearing as Target in Calculation Setup

Hi LeanIX Community,I'm trying to implement a cost allocation model using custom fields and calculations, but I’ve run into an issue. Scenario:I’ve created a custom field (Application Cost) on the Application Fact Sheet (type: Double, displayed as Cost), and I also have a field (Number of Users) on the Application–Organization relation. The idea is to calculate the proportional cost per organization, based on how many users are using the application within each connected organization. Example:Application cost: €50,000/yearOrg A: 700 usersOrg B: 5 usersOrg C: 300 users→ Total = 1005 users I want to calculate a new value (e.g. Chargeback) on the Application–Organization relation as:(application cost / total number of users) × users per orgIssue:I created a new Double field on the Application–Organization relation to store the Chargeback value, but when I try to create a Calculation in the Admin interface, this field doesn’t appear as a selectable target — even though it is visible, activ

What is the best practice for mapping Application Fact Sheet?

We need to address four key scenarios within the Application Fact Sheet:Versions Instances Environments ModulesWhat would be the best practice to map these scenarios?I am considering the use of Application Subtypes — namely Business Application, Deployment, and Microservices (Application Modeling Guidelines | SAP Help Portal) — to represent these scenarios.Please confirm the following: If I utilize these subtypes, would they count towards the total number of applications under our current licensing model, especially if they are not linked to Business Capabilities? Additionally, by using these subtypes, would I be able to comprehensively map the application's relationships across the entire IT landscape — including IT Components, Data Objects, Interfaces, and Technology Categories?

Automating sync with Signavio for multiple dictionary mappings

Hello!In order to integrate multiple elements between LeanIX and Signavio, we have configured multiple Dictionary Category Mappings in the config settings. Aside from the ‘basic’ SAP Signavio processes to LeanIX, we also have:LeanIX applications to Signavio dictionary Signavio process to LeanIX application relation SAP LeanIX Organisation to Signavio dictionary SAP LeanIX Business Capability to Signavio dictionary Signavio process to LeanIX Business Capability relationCurrently we sync them manually as needed but would like to automate this. How can we schedule the different mappings synchronisation, in the right order, so that they don’t result in conflict or undesired behaviours and so that they run automatically in the selected sequential order?Example: if I archive an app in LeanIX that is linked to a Signavio process, I want to sync apps to Signavio dictionary first, because that removes the app (if using overwrite or conservative sync). TIME Surveys

Our organization has completed the first round of functional and technical surveys in order to calculate TIME.  Before we do our second round, we would like to vet our survey questions.  For those doing TIME, did you use the TIME survey template in LeanIX?  If not, how did you determine which questions to ask to gather functional and technical fit?  Did you create your own survey questions or did you work with a professional company to determine the survey questions? What other things did you do to gain confidence in the questions and that you were getting true functional and technical fit responses? Thank you for your help!

How to document integration protocol?

Hello to the community,  We would like on interfaces to have a better technical understanding of its set up. In that regards, we are wondering on how to document integration protocol and file format.Examples of integration protocol: SFTP, REST API, TLS, Manual…Examples of file format: CSV, JSON, XML, TXT… We are considering 2 options:Create a Multi Select attribute on the Integration factsheet Create these integration protocol or file format as IT component and associate them to integrations. Storing results in Fact Sheet from a survey

I am creating a survey and based on the response of the survey i have added a calculated field that calculates a score. Based on the score, the code categorizes the score into three levels of High, Medium and Low. I want to store that categorization in an Application Fact Sheet. I added an option field which can take these three values. How can I automatically update this option field from the survey? Is it possible to do so?

Data Flow Diagrams

Is there anyone doing Data Flow maps? If so, can you please help me how to get started? I’d like to do simple data flow connecting multiple applications with arrows indicating the data that flow between them, in which direction etc. I tried to read the Data Flow article but it is not very helpful as it simply just assumes that you already have all the relationships maintained and only focuses on how to visualize it. What I am looking for is how to really start from scratch - e.g. imagine I have 2 fresh application fact sheets and I want to add them to Data Flow diagram, then draw an arrow between them and on the arrow then maintain the ‘data flow attributes’ - direction, data content, maybe the method/protocol etc. I did not find easy way how to do it directly in the diagram. Any input / guidance welcome. BTW it is also unclear to me what is the real difference between Free Draw and Data Flow diagram editor - they seem to look exactly the same. Again, the official articles are not very

Reusable Custom Field Types

Hi All,Do you know how I could create a custom field type that can be reused in multiple places.Giving you my example. I have to create a single select (enum) “Protocol” field with values like FTP, HTTP, RMI, etc. Obviously I want to use the same field in many places for instance on both ways of an Interface.Thank youPrzemek
